Brain Training - The Gift of A Better Brain
When I mention the words “brain training” more often than not I get a puzzled look. Despite all the hoopla in certain circles, brain training hasn’t get hit the big time. This makes it a great gift idea for that “difficult to buy for” loved one in your life.
If you know someone who enjoys games and puzzles, brain training will make the perfect gift. An effective brain training program (we’ll get to that later) stimulates the user in such a way that his or her brain power actually increases, making the training not only enjoyable but useful, too.
But brain training software isn’t just for the brainy sort. You may have a loved one who has begun to forget things or worries about the inevitable mental decline that comes with aging. Although you’ll have to consider whether the gift will be appreciated in the spirit it’s given, buying a brain training program for someone in this category may be the most loving gift you could give.
Although it’s not yet a household phenomenon, brain training has established the scientific credentials to demonstrate that it is here to stay. Week after week news studies show that the brain isn’t just a fixed gray lump, but something that can grow and change with the right stimulation. Test scores, mental health, intelligence - all respond to the right kind of mental exercise making brain training software not just a novel gift but an adaptable one, too.
There’s only one snag. Which software to buy? Here’s where things get somewhat more difficult.
Some brain training programs have been designed and developed with serious intent and sound science to back them up. Whereas others are perhaps less well grounded. Then there’s the matter of price. The programs range from tens of dollars to hundreds of dollars.
Here are a few things to look out for when researching products:
1. Is the training derived from a specific scientific program or research study, and what did that study show? (If this isn’t clearly stated, beware.)
2. Does the training meets the baseline goals for plastic change in the brain - that it demands focus and attention with a rewarding exercise, and that it progressively trains core brain functions (such as working-memory, processing speed and left / right brain interaction)? As with anything worth the effort, if it’s not challenging, it won’t work.
3. Does the vendor recommend a particular training schedule and does the time commitment seem reasonable to fit into the gift recipient’s schedule?
Buying the right brain training product isn’t as straightforward as buying the most expensive. In this new market, price doesn’t determine quality. In these turbulent economic times this gives us an opportunity to find a product that is not only effective but affordable.
But whether you splurge big bucks or track down an affordable gem, it’s certain that your research will reward you with a unique and well received gift.

Perfect Girl Gift - Christmas Dreams Live in the Dream Dollhouse
Little girls love to play pretend and they love their dolls, it’s a perfect gift I have a daughter that first began her love affair with a certain doll when she was only 18 months old. The relationship was a bit rocky at first as my little mommy pulled her baby’s hair and competed with the doll for bottle and binky use. Yet as the weeks passed the love my baby had for her baby grew to complete devotion.
She fondly named the baby doll Bah-Bah-Toe (don’t ask, I don’t know) and they have been inseparable now for several years. The cementing moments of the relationship occurred when Bah-Bah-Toe was given her own dollhouse. At first this was a humble dwelling that consisted of nothing more than a few cardboard boxes stacked and taped together.
At Christmas time that year, when my daughter was 2, the idea of getting her a brand new doll was down right blasphemous. Bah-Bah-Toe reigns supreme. One evening as my husband and I observed our little mommy lovingly reciting a story to her precious baby and tenderly tucking her into one of those cardboard rooms it struck us: Bah-Bah-Toe needs a real house.
Finding the perfect dollhouse for our daughter and her baby was not too difficult but was a decision that required some care. There are so many options out there. The first thing to consider is size. In our case the house needed to be able to inhabit the doll we already had. For those who may still need to populate the new residence the size concern is moot. Yet size is still an issue. Tall dollhouses pose a tipping threat and a climbing temptation for little ones. The last thing you want is the dollhouse to become memorable because of your child’s King Kong impression and the ensuing trip to the ER.
Dollhouses that are overly intricate, ornate or small similarly don’t work for toddlers. Those gorgeous Victorian ones are great, but a toddler will destroy it before the sun sets on Christmas day. Those with fine detail and small furnishings also pose a choking hazard. What a toddler needs is a dollhouse that isn’t too big, and isn’t too small. There are several varieties on the market that your daughter will be thrilled to call her own.
Many dollhouses come with just that: the house. Other brands come with a load of extras including play figures, furniture and clothing for the dolls. Price and your existing collection of accessories is a great way to decide what you need for your daughter’s Christmas wishes to come true. If you have many dolls already then a house by itself is probably the way to go. For those just starting out their doll collections a house that comes with extras will have a higher price tag up front, but when you factor in the cost of buying extra pieces separately, it might be the better deal.
Our little mommy has grown so much we hardly recognize the 2 year old who squealed with delight as she tucked a baby named Bah-Bah-Toe into her new house for the first time. Yet she still loves that doll, and her now not so new home.
Christmas Gifts for Your Baby
The holiday season is a time for children and it’s especially exciting for families who are celebrating baby’s first Christmas. There are traditional and not so traditional presents available for the youngest member of the household. Many of these baby Christmas gift items will be treasured for years to come. Of course, babies have been known to be more fascinated by the wrapping paper!
The excitement of having a new baby is overwhelming and we may feel a compulsion to purchase the intitial baby’s first Chrsitmas stocking that passes our vision. However, you do want to keep this for your child in future years. Putting some consideration into such a keepsake is always a good idea.
Some items can be personalized with a message or the baby’s name. There are My First Christmas Baby Blankets available in addition to teddy bears wearing T-shirts with Father Christmas printed on. Some teddy bears sing a song or play a tune. A Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer is another themed baby Christmas gift.
Looking at a Baby’s First Christmas ornament and remembering those tiny, chubby hands that she had for her first holiday season brings tears to my eyes. When I watch her helping to decorate the tree, I get such a feeling of pride and happiness. Her eyes light up at the mere mention of Christmas and she still waits in line anxiously waiting to tell Santa what she desperately wants for Christmas. The holidays have a sense of magic to them now that I’m a parent.
Some more unconventional presents are gaining in popularity. These are not ones that baby can unwrap but they do last a lifetime. For a memorable baby Christmas gift, there are companies that sell an acre of land on the moon or Venus. The gift contains a deed certificate and a property map showing the location of the land and detailing the mineral rights. In similar fashion, it is possible to name a star in honor of the new arrival. This comes with a presentation box, containing a certificate with the star’s name, a sky chart and a star plotter. For a more down to earth present, there is a dedicate a tree gift pack and baby helps conservation by having a tree planted in his or her name.
Outdoor Christmas Lights
If you are looking for the perfect Christmas light for house decorating this season you may want to consider the general style of your home before making a purchase. The outdoor holiday decorations come in all shapes and sizes and one may be a little better for your particular style home than another.
Getting the lighting to work in sync with the Christmas music is pretty involved but if you are technically inclined and driven to make the most of your holiday decorating adventure then you are a prime candidate for a Christmas lights house. These displays are very popular as you can tell by visiting sites dedicated to this very topic online.
There are some items that are simply a must whether you are going to take on a big project or one that is quite tame. These products come in an array of styles and types and there is a wide selection available on the World Wide Web. Following are some essential products for you Christmas lights house.
Some years I had to wait until well after Christmas for the first snowfall. Every year I take a few long rides to see the decorated homes, but I find myself searching for the Christmas tree lights more than anything else.
The obvious downside to having so many different kinds of Christmas tree lights is storing all of them. Every year you are sure to find your holiday string light sets all knotted up in a ball of tangled wires.
My husband and I were a little overwhelmed by the outcome. There was way too much going on with this display. The Christmas light for house decorations should not be bigger than the house itself. The display seemed to swallow up our little cottage and the whole outcome was no less than disappointing.
We decided to scale down quite a bit. Instead of investing in icicle lights and flashing bulbs we figured that a few strings of twinkling lights would suit our little home much better. Although I love the idea of a lot of glow during the holiday season I really prefer something a little easier on the eyes.
We quickly noticed that it took the same amount of time to check them with a bulb and to use the tester. We actually do use the tester after the several hours we wasted testing our holiday lights with a burnt out bulb. All in all, the incontinences are well worth the beauty of some well placed Christmas tree lights.

Review of Visitor Health Insurance Plan Coverage
Many travelers do not bother with visitor medical insurance, or even know much about it. Visitor insurance covers some important areas for travelers such as hospital care and prescription drugs. When visiting a country such as the U.S. from somewhere else, the cost of medical care often catches people off guard. This makes the coverage for visitors health insurance quite beneficial.
Travelers often do not anticipate a need for health coverage when visiting other nations and, therefore, do not bother with obtaining visitors insurance. Travelers who do get the policies benefit from a great deal of peace of mind.
Customers are able to choose a comfortable deductible in visitor health insurance plans. Different plans offer different levels of coverage, but the types of coverage are typically the same throughout all policies.
Visitors insurance policies are available that cover every foreseeable option, including dental problems, unexpected illnesses brought on by climate or food and so forth. Every visitor should carry this coverage. A vacation might go exactly as planned or go awry in some expected way, insurance helps in the latter case.
When travelling to areas that are prone to civil unrest or have less-than-adequate public works, coverage that allows for injuries do to terrorism, unsafe water and other hazards should be considered. Medical evacuations can be costly and unexpected in these areas of the world. Visitor’s insurance often covers such events.
For those possessed of a truly adventurous spirit, visitors insurance can be obtained that covers sports injuries and even theft, a threat to those who travel in certain nations. Accidental death is also able to be covered. For those with particular needs, visitors insurance is highly flexible.
Even nations which are familiar to the traveler can throw unexpected dangers in their paths. Insurance for visitors mitigates the effects of such events. Purchasing policies for visiting relatives has become popular, as well.
Nobody likes to think about what could happen, but it is important to be prepared. Being caught off guard in a foreign country is not a good situation. The coverage available through visitors health insurance could not only save one’s wallet, but save one’s life.
Techniques on Installing Outdoor Christmas Lighting
There’s something about outdoor Christmas decorations that can just spark the mood for the holiday cheer. A home seem lifeless and without joy without Christmas lights. If you’re looking for the best kind of outdoor Christmas decoration, then you should try looking for outdoor Christmas lighting. Here are some great tips in shopping for and installing lights outdoors.
Price Does Matter
There have been countless incidents of fire due to cheap and faulty Christmas lights. You can avoid getting these sub standard products by choosing local government standard approved products instead of dubious imported or online auction lights. Standard outdoor Christmas lighting may be a little more expensive but you should rather spend than risk burning down your property.
If you want to buy cheap, then buy reputable outdoor Christmas lighting brand items during the off season. Buy months ahead of Christmas or days after Christmas for next season. This can help you save a bit while at the same time nit sacrificing quality.
Decide on the Kind of Lights
Christmas decorations and lightings can be in C9 or miniature. Lights that are under C9 are often seen as better options for outdoor lighting. These lights are not only bigger, they are also sturdier and emit brighter lights.
Check the Lights
Be sure that electric strings are in perfect working order before installing the lights. Plug the strings and check for bulbs that no longer light. You can easily replace bulbs by unplugging the strings and replacing the old one with a new one. Aside from checking bulbs, you should also check the wires. Finding frayed or exposed wires means that it is time to for you to buy new lights. Checking for frays is especially important if you think you have mice at home.
Provide Outlets
Extensions cords are often very useful for installing outdoor Christmas lighting. Sometimes though, they may not be the safest especially if the extension is connected to an internal socket. This could be a cause of short circuits. Extension cords that are improperly used and connected could also cause electrocution.
Make sure that the extensions you will be using are safe and specifically designed for outdoor use. You should also have outdoor receptacles or outlets from which you can plug extensions for outdoor Christmas lighting. These receptacles should be controlled by internal switches so that you do not have to pull the plug yourself. Also, remember to have a ground fault circuit interrupter that can prevent electrocution especially on wet areas. Extensions wires for outdoor Christmas lighting should be firmly attached to the ground with the extra length of wires clipped and kept in a neat bunch. This is to prevent accidental tripping.
Take Care of Connectors
You may also have to use connectors especially if one outdoor Christmas lighting string is not enough for an area. You should make sure though that your connectors are not too exposed and are kept away from wet areas. You can put electrical tape around the connecting line for extra precaution.
Fun and Safe Foreign Backpacking Trips
The decision to get a backpacking trip overseas is a big one, and you are in for an amazing adventure. Backpacking in Europe or other external lands, with their ancient pasts, often brings surprises and breathtaking experiences. If you are fairly new to traveling overseas then there are some things you should be alert of so you can have a complete trip. The following list outlines some of the best advice for traveling abroad.
Experience applicable local and national laws. Make sure you understand the local laws and customs. This is important because the last thing you want is problem. There are places you can and cannot go. If there is any question, check with local bureaus. Many area require a license.
Have your papers in order. Make sure you have everything you need to travel overseas and get into the destination country. You should check with both countries to find out all of your paperwork is in order. Note that Americans require passports for Canada and Mexico visits now.
Make sure your map is up to date. You should check to make sure the map you are taking is up-to-date. You do not want to plan a backpacking trip in an area that has lately been converted from wild to a shopping at center.
Keep your family in the loop. Just as you would when backpacking at home, you need to fill in your family on all your plans. This is even more important when traveling. You never know what can happen and nobody there is going to realize you may be in trouble.
Get medical info with you. If you have any allergies or unique disciplines or needs, make sure they are documented and carry them where they can be learned, like in a wallet or on a bracelet.
Have a back up project. You can not constantly go back home easily if your plans are detoured by weather or some other unexpected event. Be sure you have an alternative plan in place so your trip is not destroyed. Watch the seasons, and plan for a season that has a better chance of having decent weather. Overseas backpacking in a hurricane would be no fun!
Even though you are going on a backpacking trip you still need to understand the basics behind safe travel abroad. You should try to leave valuables at home. You should hire a local tour guide and always travel in a group or with at least one other person. It is also important that you stick to public areas. Do not try to venture to unknown areas. You never know what types of problems you could run into. Travel intelligent and your trip will most likely be one of the most grand experiences you will ever have.
Taking a few cares can ensure that your overseas backpacking trip will be one of the most fun and charging experiences you ever have!

How to Find a Good Deal on a Hotel in Las Vegas
There are a few ways to get great deals on hotels in Las Vegas. This article was written to provide as many known tips as I could to my consumers to get them to Vegas for cheap.
Let me tell you something. I got in the travel industry a while back. It wasn’t long before I had all these people calling me to book, and I was like man I want to go to these places. Well, with all the places I have been Las Vegas is the most fun. Let me also tell you that I am not a gambler. I just had a blast in Las Vegas in the warm temperatures seeing all the sites. Plus I got a huge discount on my hotel.
The best starting point is to go to the website of the hotel directly. You can sign up for a mailing list or a guest book and they will send you emails. A lot of times they will have cheap hotel rates in the email with a promotion code. You can simply book through the hotel as you receive these deals.
The best time to plan your trip is during the week. The large name hotels usually give huge discount rates during the week. They then mark the price up on the weekends when demand is higher. My suggestion is to go on a Tuesday and return on a Thursday or Friday. This is when demand is low and you will get the cheapest hotel rate. I also always suggest Allegiant Air, if you are near one of their departing airports you can usually fly to Vegas for next to nothing.
Websites out there that offer cheap hotels or discount hotels are the easiest way to find good deals. The rooms that are offered here are usually the same rooms you can get directly from the hotel. The only difference is the hotel acts as a wholesale supplier to these websites. They sell in bulk to the website and then the website marks up the price and resells to the consumer. The margin for the business is the difference between the hotel’s price to the business and the price they sell to you. You can usually get discounted and cheap hotels through these websites, and if you find a lower rate most of them have a price match guarantee.
The question of where to stay can be complicated to answer. If I was actually telling you where not to stay I would say the Stratosphere. It is way on the north end of the strip, and though cheap, is far away from everything. I like to stay as close to the center of the strip as possible. The Paris, Flamingo, Bally’s are all close to the center of the strip and are probably the best choice. For cheap hotels I would say the best bet is the Flamingo. It is a nice property, though it is sort of old, it usually has a good rate. The cheapest hotel at center strip is Bill’s Gamblin Hall & Salon owned by Harrah’s. I have not outright suggested this hotel due to the fact that it has received some bad reviews. I just don’t know how much I trust them, the hotel is cheap and is in prime location.
A trip to Las Vegas will be sure to make memories that last a lifetime. It is also not as expensive as you would think. Instead of shopping around, I always say make a commitment, book, and then shop. You can always get the place where you booked to match a lower rate if you find one. They will usually do this up until the time of check-in and sometimes even after that. If you don’t book something the rates will continue to go up as supply goes down. Book a discount or cheap hotel room right away, then keep your eye out for drops in the price level so you can have your agent match it.
