Let me tell you a secret. In 2008 the scariest Halloween costume will be Little Red Riding Hood costumes. With the release of the new movie - A tale of LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD, Little Red Riding Hood will change to be a horror tale. I am sure everyone is looking forward to know who the killer is going to be.

The scary remake of the classic story takes us deep into the dark woods to show what really happens when a naive young girl meets up with a stranger. All the details about the version are being kept under wraps- or hoods. What we do know- the BIG BAD WOLF is very hungry!

Once upon a time, there is a little visiting her grandmother because her grandmother is sick. She needs bring food to her by her own. She put on a red scarf. She takes a basket with goodies. She decides to go through the forest.

On the half way to her grandmother’s home, the “Red” meets the big bad wolf. Under the danger and fear, she tells the wolf where she wants to go and give directions to the wolf. The wolf then directs her to a wrong way so that he can enter the house first. The “Red” follows the wolf’s directions but she does not know she is cheated. She finally uses much more time to get to her grandmother’s home.

The original purpose of that story is to alert young people that it is very dangerous to walk on an unfamiliar road by their own.

Let me tell you the history of Halloween as well. Halloween is a scary festival. It is usually celebrated on the last day of October which is the scariest night.

Halloween was first found in Ireland from a feast day called Samhain. People celebrated that once a year for the end of the harvest. Animals and crops were sent to the Gods in order to ask them to protect the human. They asked for peace.

In the old days, it was said that the dead people would come back to the earth on Samhain night. They would harm the human. They would also be in scary costumes. As people wanted to fight with them, they wore scary costumes as well. That was the origin of putting on Halloween costumes. People tended to wear witches costumes or goblins costumes.

November 1st is known as All Saints Day, aka All Hallow’s Day. Hallow means ’sainted ones’. This religious day was started to take away the power the Samhain pagan ritual had over the Irish people. Samhain - became known as All Hallow’s Eve. Samhain is pronounced Sah-ween- is where the ‘ween’ part comes from.

On 31 October, the Celts placed stone fruits and berries under the doors. The treats were to trick the dead people from going into their homes.

Along with the moving of Irish people to America, the spirit of Halloween was also brought to America.

Wearing Halloween costumes, having a crazy night or eating candy are the main parts of Halloween today. People do not worry any about the other world where the dead people live.
