Mexico is located in Latin America and is ranked number one as a destination for tourists. Most of the tourists who visit Mexico come from Canada and The United States. The oldest inhabitants of the territory of Mexico go back as far as 9,000 years ago. When the Spanish invaded the region, in 1519, the Aztecs and the Mayans were the main indigenous people. They were mostly wiped out but their constructions remain and are a major attraction.

Climate can be very diverse in Mexico with a tropical climate is some regions and temperate climate in other regions. This is partly due to the mountain areas which help to create diverse weather. Snow can be found in Chihuahua but there is also the Altar desert in Sonora. Even though the climate is diverse here, most of the cities are in the Valley of Mexico which has a mild climate all year.
Cancun and Acapulco have amazing scenery and are the most famous beaches in Mexico. These two beaches attract many tourists. Cancun is a hot spot for American college students who love to come during Spring Break. The coastal location of Acapulco once attracted the celebrities but now attracts everyone.
Monuments, whether contemporary or ancient, are big tourist attractions. Located in the central and southern parts of Mexico are the ruins of the Aztecs and Mayans. The Mayan aThe Castlea of Chichen-Itza is a popular monument among the tourists. This monument is located on the Yucatan Peninsula in the Yucantan state which is in the northern center part of Mexico.
Mexico’s major cities are proof that Mexico is trying to be a modern country. The country is trying to hold on to historical heritage while embracing new cultural interests. Mexico City is known for Meso-American attractions while Guadalajara is known for Mexican traditions. The most modern city that has famous museums known worldwide is Monterrey in Nuevo Leon.
